Like many practitioners, the reason I found my way into this work was my own health journey. At 9 years old, suffering from a severe chronic cough that doctors couldn’t cure, my parents took me to a homeopath out of sheer tiredness and desperation. The results were amazing and opened my families’ eyes to an alternative and more natural approach to health.
But it wasn’t until many years later, when pregnant with my first child that I really started to pay attention to nutrition, environmental toxins and overall wellness. Like so many I worked hard and played hard through my twenties, partying and travelling with little thought for the impact my lifestyle choices might have on my health. I exercised regularly and wasn’t overweight, so proudly embraced my reputation as a chocoholic (confession: I have a serious sweet tooth!) and considered myself healthy. But now I started reading up on nutrition and once my daughter was born I was really inspired to look into everything I was putting in and on her precious little body, and boy, did I open a can of worms!
So when I found myself redundant from my corporate marketing job several years later I finally decided to embrace my passion and study as a Health Coach at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) so I could both do the best for the health of my family and help others to improve theirs too.
So often we take our health for granted until symptoms start creeping in, and even then we often ignore or put up with them until they start interfering with day to day life. But with an estimated 80% of illness being down to lifestyle, I’m on a mission to help people take back control of their health and feel their best so they can live life to the full.
Note: When choosing a health coach to work with it’s important to check their credentials. I qualified with the College of Naturopathic Medicine (three-time winner of the Best College in the prestigious IHCAN Education Awards) and my qualification is accredited by the NHS Personalised Care Institute, the UK Health Coaches Association and the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners.
